I have been lifting weights regularly for almost 10 years now. The key is to get into a good routine and then find ways to constantly change things up. I actually do cardio six days/week because I have the luxury of working from home so i can go to the gym twice/day. I will do 30-40 minutes of cardio each morning, then go back in the afternoon for weight training.
    Here is my base routine.
    Monday: Shoulders/Calves/Abs
    Tuesday: Legs
    Wednesday: Cardio – no weights
    Thursday: Back/Tricepts/Abs
    Friday: Chest/Bicepts/Abs
    Saturday: morning Spinning class
Sunday: rest, walk with dog, etc.
    repeat
I’m not going to get into specific exercises but you can find all kinds of stuff at bodybuilding.com
    check it out.
Also, many people will do chest and tricepts one day and back and bicepts another day. I disagree with that. I do chest and bicepts together and back and tricepts together. The reason for this is simple. Chest and tricepts are both Push movements while back and bicepts are both Pull movements. I prefer to do one Push body part along with a Pull body part.
You’ll have to try different things and figure out what is best for you. And don’t be shy. Ask people at the gym what they do and what they think is best. Most people at gyms are willing to help out a newbie.
    Good luck!
