well i am 5′4″ and was 175lbs. I trained for a marathon and that worked wonders! Of course you don’t have to do anything that drastic. But here is a basic plan that will probably work for you.
multiply your weight by 13, then subtract 500 from that answer.
this is the number of calories you should take in every day to lose about 1lb per week. Of course eat as healthy as you can and spread the calories out in 5-6 small meals per day.
Make sure you eat breakfast, and once within 30min of working out to help speed up your metabolism and build more muscle to burn fat. Throw in a cheat day once every couple of weeks so you don’t deprive yourself, you’ll be more successfull at dieting that way.
Then make sure you work out 30-60min per day at least 5 days a week. Mix it up with cardio and strength training or workout dvd’s so you don’t get bored.
It’s very good that you’re not trying to lose it quickly. It is going to take some time and a lot of effort.
First of all, do you eat something unhealthy every day? Maybe a can of coke? If you stop drinking that can of coke every single day, you will, slowly, and over a long period of time, lose weight. So take out all unhealthy foods that you eat. Get an accurate food pyramid and follow it. Go to the store and get yourself lots of healthy food. Remove all ice cream, chocolate, and other fatty foods from your kitchen. Make it so that every time you open the fridge for a snack, there’s only healthy food, like low-fat yogurt and orange juice.
But you’ll also need to work out. If you haven’t been very physically active in awhile, you will need to start out slow. Get a gym membership, and use it frequently. Get a pedometer. Start running. Take jogs around your neighborhood. Start at 1/2 a mile. Work your way up every week by 1/2 a mile. But you have to run every day or close to it.
GOOD LUCK!

Losing weight is a common goal for an ever-increasing percentage of society. Nearly one-third of the population in North America are obese because of unhealthy life-styles and poor eating habits.
To lose weight in a healthy and effective way, you should first consult with a physician to ensure that there are no health issues. Once you are given a clear bill of health, you may want to seek out a professional nutritionist to help you decide on a “game plan”. There are good weight loss programs but there are also way too many fad diet programs and “miracle” diets that are not only unhealthy but will frustrate your attempts and discourage you from your goal.
Success in losing weights is comprised of more than just a diet plan and exercise. You need to be committed to your goal for the right reasons, i.e. for you and your health. Success is more often realized when you have a support structure as well.
If you prefer to research diet programs without the assistance of a professional, I would suggest Weight Watchers as your first stop. Weight Watchers has a sound approach to food and the all-important “change in lifestyle” that is needed for long-term success. It has several plan options, e.g. the Points System and the Core System. Both work well but one may appeal to you more than the other.
Weight Watchers has a support system and the cost is reasonable. You eat real food that you select and prepare, offering flexibility and rewards for your efforts.
You can participate in a real-life meeting once a week or you can try out their online program. Either way, the program is one of the best available. For more information, see http://www.weightwatchers.ca/ . There is also a Weight Watchers in the United States.
Hope this helps and good luck. Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life and it can be a healthy one.
